Replication Gateway pair selection options for on-premises data center
This topic is applicable if you are recovering VMware virtual machines from VMware (source) data center to VMware (target) data center.
For this recovery use case, you can configure Resiliency Platform Data Mover in either of the following two modes:
In-Guest mode (replicate virtual machine data using an in-guest component)
Hypervisor mode (replicate virtual machine data using VAIO interfaces)
Depending on the size of the staging area disk attached to the gateway, the gateway can serve a number of protected virtual machines or assets. If a gateway is already servicing a few assets; available or free assets are calculated based on how many more assets the gateway can protect.
With the Hypervisor (VAIO) mode, you can configure the resiliency group for Continuous Data Protection (CDP) by selecting the Enable Continuous Data Protection checkbox while selecting the appropriate gateway pair. CDP can be configured for source as well as for target data center. You can either select the checkbox on source side or on the target side or select both the check boxes at a time. Based on the check boxes selected, the columns in the Replication Gateway pair table are displayed.

You can view the information of the storage disk attached, provisioned disk, number of assets, and total number of disks configured for the CDP.
Select an appropriate gateway pair to use for this resiliency group based on the information provided in Assets Requirement. Based on the disk count displayed in the Select Gateway Pair table, you can remove some virtual machines to ensure that the asset requirement is met.
The total number of disks shows thin disk details. You can also view details on total provisioned storage and total storage used by all the virtual machines including the virtual machine swap (.vswp) files.
When a resiliency group is placed in maintenance mode you cannot add or edit any virtual machines or data disks. If the CDP is enabled for that resiliency group, you cannot change the CDP storage listed in the Replication Gateway pair.
