Add a user to a role

You can add a user to a role when want to give the permissions that role provides.

If a user is added to a role, the user must sign out and sign in again before the user's permissions are updated.

To add a user to a role

  1. On the left, click Security > RBAC.
  2. Click the Roles tab.
  3. Click on the role that you want to edit and click on the Users tab.
  4. From the Sign-in type list, select the sign-in method you want the user to use.

    Note: The SAML options are only available if there is an IDP configuration available for NetBackup.

    User sign-in method

    Sign in with user name and password

    This option applies to local or to domain users or groups.

    Default sign-in or smart card

    Sign in with smart card

    A SAML user that uses Sign in with single sign-on (SSO)

    SAML user

    A SAML group that uses Sign in with single sign-on (SSO)

  5. Enter the user or the group name that you want to add.

  6. Click Add to list.
