Support matrix for RDM disk support (VMware)
Veritas Resiliency Platform supports migration of VMware virtual machines with Raw Device Mapping (RDM) disks from source data center to target data center. Following are some considerations for RDM disk support in Veritas Resiliency Platform:
If you are using Resiliency Platform Data Mover: For each RDM disk on the source data center, a corresponding non-RDM disk is provisioned on the target data center for replication.
If you are using third-party replication: For each RDM disk on the source data center, the corresponding replicated LUN is attached to the virtual machine as RDM disk on the target data center.
When a virtual machine having RDM disks gets migrated to the target data center and then again migrated back to the source data center, the same RDM disks are attached to the migrated virtual machines that were attached before the migration.
Note:
Resiliency Platform automatically detects the RDM or non-RDM mode of disks belonging to the protected virtual machines and handles the orchestration of the disks accordingly. From an end-user's perspective, there is no change in the protection, operations, as well as monitoring of replication information for the virtual machines with RDM devices and the virtual machines without RDM devices.
