Adding NetBackup primary server
Using the Resiliency Platform console you can add the NetBackup primary server to the Resiliency Platform.
You can add the NetBackup primary server in the following ways:
Using the NetBackup webservice credentials or API key option
Use these option when NetBackup primary is directly accessible from Resiliency Manager.
The Resiliency Platform uses these credentials to add itself as a websocket server in NetBackup. This channel is used for notification of backup activities.
When you remove NetBackup primary server using the Resiliency Platform console, then the websocket server for Resiliency Manager is deleted from NetBackup primary server.
You need to manually delete the websocket server for Resiliency Manager using the NetBackup Administration Console, if there is an entry for the same websocket server already exists.
See “Adding the NetBackup primary server using the webservice credentials or API key”.
Using the NetBackup webservice URL
This is a two step task; first task is done using the Resiliency Platform console to add the NetBackup primary server and a registration URL is generated on the console. The second step is done using the NetBackup Administration Console.
Use this option when NetBackup primary is not directly accessible from the Resiliency Manager.
Note that the URL contains a temporary token which is valid only for 30 minutes. If the operation is not completed in 30 minutes, then you need to edit the NetBackup primary server to regenerate the URL. While adding the webservice endpoint in the primary server, if an old entry already exists in the NetBackup primary server for the same host name, delete the entry before adding with new URL.
See “Adding the NetBackup Primary server using the webservice URL”.
NetBackup Appliances can be added using the URL registration method only.
NetBackup primary privileges
To add the NetBackup primary servers into Resiliency Platform the user needs to have a role assigned that has the privileges listed in the link.
See NetBackup primary privileges.
Role can be created and assign to user using NetBackup WebUI from version 8.3 onwards.
