Migrating a virtual business service
Migration refers to a planned activity involving graceful shutdown of the virtual business services at the production data center and starting them at the recovery data center.
When the VBS contains resiliency groups that are configured for protection using a service objective where the data availability mode is Copy, then during the migrate operation virtual machines are created on the recovery data center with the latest backup image.
To migrate a virtual business service
- Navigate
Assets (navigation pane) > Virtual Business Service(s) tab
- Use the on-screen filters, the Search field, and table heading sort feature to locate your VBS.
- Migrate the VBS.
Do one of the following:
Right click on the VBS row and select Migrate.
On the VBS row, click the vertical ellipsis and select Migrate.
Double click the VBS row, under Management Operations section, select Migrate.
On the confirmation screen, select the data center that you want to migrate, and click Migrate.
If the migrate operation fails, then you need to manually fix the issue, bring the VBS online on production data center, and then re-run the migrate task. You may run the migrate operation on individual resiliency groups after fixing the issue.
