Veritas NetBackup™ OpsCenter Reporting Guide

Status & Success Rate > Status > Week At A Glance report

This report summarizes activity for a week by symbolically displaying the result of each job for each client under the day of the week. The symbols are the blue (Success) and yellow (Partial Success) men and failures that are denoted by a red "X". This report provides quick and comprehensive verification that all is well in the data protection solution using symbols. A drill-down capability to the job level details (i.e Job ID, Start/End Time, Size etc.) is provided. You can drill down to any server on any day and get the job level detail.

It can be reported on against any view or level within a view along with any of the key backup infrastructure components (backup server, media server) and attributes (policy, policy type, schedule, OS, product, transport type). Filtering is available on all components and attributes. The report provides a visualization of job status for the most current data and how that compares to the previous six days.

This report can be used for automated report generation and email features where different report filters can be used to show specific systems and then that data emailed to the relevant parties once a week. It is recommended that you use filters in large environments. This is because the report shows every master server and client by default.

Week at a Glance Report's performance declines as the data to be displayed in the report increases. For example, running a two-month report is slower than running a two-week report.

Note:

The Week at a Glance report displays icons when it is exported or emailed in an HTML format. Earlier in OpsCenter 7.0.x, the Week at a Glance report could not display icons when exported or emailed in an HTML format. This issue has been fixed in OpsCenter 7.1 and later versions.

Week at a Glance report

This report shows that there were a number of failures and also quickly shows that most of the backups completed successfully. Using this report you can see if backups ran each day of the week and the status of that backup. This report can be scheduled to be emailed or exported weekly which saves a great deal of time.

The following enhancements have been made in the Week at a Glance report:

Report Enhancements

The following report enhancements have been made:

  • The Week at a Glance report can now show the files and directories that are backed up for each client. The following checkbox has been added on the Modify Display Options pane when you edit the report:

Show the files and directories backed up for each client

If you check this option and click Run Report, you can view the client name and the backed up directory in the Client Name column of Week at a Glance report.

  • You can drill down from the Client Name column in the Week at a Glance report to view Week at a Glance Details report. This was also available earlier.

Now an additional level of drill down is available from the Week at a Glance Details report. You can now further drill down from the Job Primary ID column in Week at a Glance Details report to view Skip File Details report.

  • The Client Name column in the Week at a Glance report is now sorted by default.

  • Earlier if you selected Rolling 8 days column in the Week Information filter, the Week at a Glance report displayed one day less than VBR. This issue has now been fixed.

Filter Enhancements

The following filter enhancements are listed:

  • For Week Information filter, the value list for Week of the year column has been updated. The values staring from 17 Weeks Ago to 30 Weeks Ago have been added. Earlier the value selections were limited from current week to 16 Weeks Ago.

By selecting these additional values, you can view older data in the report.

  • UNKNOWN has been added as a value for Policy Type column in the Policy filter. You can now filter report data for policy types that are UNKNOWN. In earlier versions of OpsCenter the unknown policy types were shown as blank. Now all static columns like job type, schedule type, policy type, etc. are shown as UNKNOWN like in VBR.

  • Schedule filter has been added to the list of filters for this report. You can now view report data for jobs that have a specific schedule name.
