Table: NetBackup for SAP backint interface environment variablesdescribes the environment variables that the NetBackup for SAP backint interface recognizes.

Note:

Purpose

$SAP_CLIENT
%SAP_CLIENT%

Sets the name of the NetBackup client. It can be used to override the current client and perform an alternate restore of a different client. This variable is same as the client parameter in the initSID.utl file.

This variable also overrides the CLIENT_NAME option in the registry or bp.conf file.

$SAP_DRIVES
%SAP_DRIVES%

Sets the number of simultaneous backups or restore operations the NetBackup for SAP backint interface can execute for a single operation. This environment variable overrides the drives parameter in the initSID.utl file.

$SAP_POLICY
%SAP_POLICY%

Sets the name of the NetBackup policy. Used to define which policy to use for different types of database backup or inquiry functions. You can use one policy to perform offline database backups and another policy to perform archive log backups. This environment variable overrides as the policy parameter in the initSID.utl file.

This variable also overrides the BPBACKUP_POLICY option in the registry or bp.conf file.

$SAP_RECOVERY
%SAP_RECOVERY

Set this environment variable to disaster when the disaster recovery is used withBRRECOVER. If the initSID.sap file is not present, BRRECOVER calls BACKINT without the "-p initSID.utl" parameter. If NetBackup for SAP is called without the util file parameter, it expects that the SAP_RECOVERY environment variable is set to disaster.

$SAP_RESTORE
%SAP_RESTORE

Set this environment variable to rollback to specify a snapshot rollback restore from BACKINT-based backups.

$SAP_SCHED
%SAP_SCHED%

Sets the name of the SAP backup policy schedule. This schedule provides an easy way to switch to a different schedule for each SAP database backup. This environment variable overrides the schedule parameter in the initSID.utl file.

This variable also overrides the BPBACKUP_SCHED option in the registry or bp.conf file.

$SAP_SNC_SCHED
%SAP_SNC_SCHED%

Sets the name of the SAP backup policy schedule. This schedule is used to perform file-based snapshot and off-host backups of the data file in brbackup phase 1. The following types of schedules can be used for this type of backup: Automatic Full, Automatic Differential Incremental, or Automatic Cumulative Incremental.

$SAP_SERVER
%SAP_SERVER%

Sets the name of the NetBackup master server. It can be used to override the current server and perform a backup to an alternative server. This environment variable overrides the server parameter in the initSID.utl file.

This variable also overrides the SERVER option in the registry or bp.conf file.

$SAPSWITCH
%SAPSWITCH%

Set this environment variable to specify the location of the .switch files (.switch.lis, .switch.sem, .switch.log).

This variable gets higher precedence than the switch parameters (switch_list, switch_sem, switch_log) mentioned in intSID.utl file.
