Replicating to all inter-domain targets or to a specific target

With Auto Image Replication, you can replicate backups to all configured replication targets or to a subset of all configured replication targets. To replicate to specific master server domains, you must first configure trusted master servers.

See About trusted master servers for Auto Image Replication.

Table: Configuration differences between replicating to all inter-domain targets or to a specific target

Replication objective	Auto Image Replication SLP configuration	Import SLP configuration
Replicate the backup to all configured master server domains.	Create an SLP in the originating domain. The first operation must be a Backup operation. The SLP must include a Replication operation. To copy to all domains, select All inter-domain replication target(s).	The Import SLPs are created automatically in all domains. See Figure: Replicating from one domain to all inter-domain master servers for a representation of this scenario.
Replicate the backup to targets in specific NetBackup master server domains.	In this case, first create the Import SLPs before the SLP in the originating domain. The first operation must be a Backup operation. The SLP must include a Replication operation. Select A specific Master Server and indicate the domain of the target master server.	The Import SLPs are not created automatically. Note: Create the Import SLP before creating the Auto Image Replication SLP in the originating domain. Create an Import SLP in each target domain. The Import SLP must have an Import operation as the first operation, but can contain other operations as needed. Figure: Replicating from one domain to a specific inter-domain master server represents this scenario.

Additional requirements for Auto Image Replication SLPs are described in the following topic:

To replicate copies to a specific domain, make sure that the target domain master server is a trusted master server of the originating domain.

See Adding a trusted master server using a NetBackup CA-signed (host ID-based) certificate.
