Veritas NetBackup™ for Microsoft SQL Server Administrator's Guide

Configuring the client with the private interface name

To perform backups over a private network interface, must use the private name of the client. If you installed the client using the public interface name, follow this procedure to configure the client name as the private interface name.

For cluster environments, additional configuration is required. In that case, must use the private virtual name of the SQL Server cluster.

See Configuring backups of clustered SQL Server instances (legacy SQL Server policies).

To configure the client with the private interface name

  1. Open the Backup, Archive, and Restore interface.
  2. Select File > Client Properties.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Client name box, specify the private name of the client.

For example, the private name for the computer sqlhost1 is sqlhost1-NB.
