About the Policies utility
Backup policies provide the instructions that NetBackup follows to back up clients. Use the Policies utility to provide the following instructions for a backup:

To perform actions in the Policies utility
- On the left, select Protection > Policies.
- Review the following information:
To open a policy:
Select the Policies tab. Select the link for a policy.
To display specific configuration information:
Select the appropriate tab to view the policy configuration areas:
Clients - displays all of the clients that are in the policies.
Schedules - displays all of the schedules that are in the policies.
Backup selections - displays all of the backup selection lists that are in the policies.

To display information about all policies on the current primary server:
Select the Policies tab.
To edit policy attributes for multiple policies:
On the Policies tab:
Select the policies that you want to change.
Select Edit.
To edit the host properties for a client:
On the Clients tab:
Select the client.
Select Host properties.
To fetch the resiliency status for a client
On the Clients tab:
Select the client.
Select Fetch resiliency status.
To perform a manual backup
On the Policies, Clients, or Schedules tab:
Select the policies, clients, or schedules for which you want to run a manual backup.
Select Manual backup.

Displays backup selections only for policies that already have backup selections configured.
Policies without backup selections do not appear on this tab.
Backup selections are displayed per policy, not per client.
If a policy contains multiple backup selections, each selection is shown as a separate row under the same policy.
Users must have View permission for the policy to see its backup selections.
Existing policy backup selections appear after the policy cache synchronization task runs.
Changes to backup selections may not be visible immediately due to cache refresh intervals.
The tab is Read-Only mode.
Backup selections for the following policy types are not displayed in the Backup selections summary on the Policies screen:

These policy types manage backup selections through specialized workflows and are therefore excluded from the summary view.
