NetBackup™ Upgrade Guide

Add or remove the NetBackup DirectIO package after upgrade

After the upgrade completes, you can add or remove the NetBackup DirectIO package from primary servers, media servers, and clients.

Add the NetBackup DirectIO package

To add the NetBackup DirectIO package, use one of the options shown:

  • (Media servers and clients) Create and run a VxUpdate policy (or ad hoc operation) and specify that the NetBackup DirectIO package should be included.

  • On Red Hat x86, access the upgrade media and run the commands shown:

    rpm -U VRTSnbdirectio.rpm

  • On Windows, access the installation media, and run the packages shown:

    Cohesity NetBackup DirectIO.msi

Remove the NetBackup DirectIO package

To remove the NetBackup DirectIO package, use one of the options shown:

  • (Media servers and clients) Create and run a VxUpdate policy (or ad hoc operation) and specify that the NetBackup DirectIO package should be excluded.

  • On Red Hat x86, run the commands shown:

    rpm -e VRTSnbdirectio.rpm

  • On Windows:

    • Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.

    • In the Control Panel window, select the appropriate utility for installed programs and applications.

    • From the Currently Installed Programs list, select NetBackup DirectIO and click Remove.
