NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 9897

Message: Failed to reassign the ownership of the root certificate path or file to the service user.

Explanation: This issue happens because the NetBackup service user does not own the NetBackup certificate store (/usr/openv/var/global/cloudpoint) and so the user does not have permissions for this path.

Recommended Action: Perform the following as appropriate:

  • Add or modify the Snapshot Manager configuration using the tpconfig command. Run the tpconfig command as a root user. This action re-assigns the ownership of the root certificate path or the certificate file to the NetBackup service user.

  • Review and re-assign the ownership and permissions for the NetBackup certificate store (/usr/openv/var/global/cloudpoint) to the NetBackup service user.
