NetBackup™ for Nutanix AHV Administrator's Guide

Protect vTPM enabled AHV VMs

A Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is used to manage cryptographic keys for security services like encryption and hardware (and software) integrity protection. AHV virtual trusted platform Module (vTPM) is software-based emulation of the TPM 2.0 specification that works as a virtual device.

NetBackup protects vTPM enabled VMs using the Nutanix-AHV policy and Nutanix protection plan.

You must configure the Nutanix Prism Central and Prism cluster credentials.

See Add a new Nutanix Prism Central.

See Managing AHV cluster credentials.

Limitations
  • Backup of the information stored in the vTPM is not supported by Nutanix.

  • vTPM is not supported on Nutanix VMs with machine type other than Q35.

For more information and recommendations, refer to the Nutanix documentation.
