Troubleshooting: IP customization
Following are some IP customization errors and their descriptions. These errors are applicable if your recovery data center is on-premises.
Description: While configuring the resiliency group for disaster recovery, if you have customized an IP address and the configuration is successfully completed. Later if you remove the subnet mapping and run any disaster recovery operation such as migrate, recover, the above warning is displayed. The migrate or recover operation may fail.
Workaround: Fix the subnet mapping and proceed.
Description: While configuring the resiliency group for disaster recovery, if you have customized an IP address and the configuration is successfully completed. Later you change the subnet mapping and the customized IP is not in the range of the mapped subnet. Now, when you run any disaster recovery operation such as migrate, recover, the above warning is displayed. If you continue with the recovery operation in spite of the warning, the operation fails.
Workaround: Ensure that the IP belongs to the selected range of mapped subnets.
Description:DR operation (Migrate/Recover/Rehearsal) may sometimes fail in the "Customize Guest IP" task for VMware workloads with the error: "Failed to update VMware tools status. IP customization operation on virtual_machine_name failed".
Workaround:In this case, login into the vCenter server with admin privileges and restart the named virtual machine and retry the operation. This may happen if the VMware tools service inside the guest is somehow unable to reach the ESXi server.
