Moving a Replication Gateway to another IMS
You can move a Replication Gateway to another Infrastructure Management Server (IMS) only if the existing IMS is unusable. If the existing IMS is in Connected state then move operation is not supported.
When you move a gateway to another IMS and the Replication Gateway is configured as a PXE boot server or as a DHCP server, it remains as a PXE boot server or as a DHCP server.
Before proceeding with the move operation, ensure the following:
Remove the vCenter reporting to the IMS which is unusable, and then add it to the new IMS. Move the Hyper-v Server reporting to the IMS which is unusable, to the new IMS.
Other configurations such as enclosure configuration, discovery host, and control host configuration should be completed on the new IMS.
Move the replication hosts to the new IMS.
Ensure that the state of the Replication Gateway is Healthy.
To move the Replication Gateway to another IMS
- Navigate
Settings (menu bar) > Infrastructure > Details View
You can also access this page from the Quick Actions menu.
- Click Data Mover > Resiliency Platform Data Mover tab.
- Click Move Replication Gateway.
- In the Select Hosts panel, select the Replication Gateways which you want to move to another IMS.
- In the Provide Inputs panel, select the IMS and enter the user name and password of the Replication Gateway. You can choose to apply the selection to all the gateways. Click Next.
- Verify the selection before submitting the wizard.
- Use Recent Activities (bottom pane) > Details to ensure every subtask is complete. If a task has failed at any step, you need to rerun the operation and ensure that you have selected the same target IMS. During rerun, select the Replication Gateway connected to the unusable IMS.
Double entries for Replication Gateways are displayed until the unusable IMS is removed. After all the assets are moved and configurations are completed, remove the unusable IMS to ensure a clean setup.
