About SLP and Auto Image Replication
This section gives a brief overview about SLP and Auto Image Replication in NetBackup.
A Storage Lifecycle Policy (SLP) is a storage plan that specifies where data will be stored and for how long. The SLP determines where the backup image is initially written and where it is subsequently duplicated. With NetBackup 7.1, you can also duplicate backup image or duplicate copies from one storage domain to another for business continuity planning purposes. This means that you can now copy backup images from one master server to another master server, and also specify a different master server as a storage destination in an SLP.
The SLP and Auto Image Replication functionality in NetBackup allow you to move data to tiers of storage on different master servers commensurate with the value of the data as it ages.
More information about SLP and Auto Image Replication functionality is available in the NetBackup Administrator's Guide.
