Example of dynamic data streaming with backup host pool
Here's an example of how dynamic data streaming is used for a backup host pool.
Sample environment:
Table: Configurations table
Environment | Configurations |
|---|---|
NetBackup base environment |

NetApp NAS environment |

Backup host pool environment |

Volumes are distributed across backup hosts and the backups happen using streams (by default 2 per volume). So based on the above example, each backup host gets five volumes each in a round robin method. Based on the CPU and memory configurations, NetBackup decides the maximum number of jobs that can be run on the backup host at a given point in time.
