NetBackup™ Backup Planning and Performance Tuning Guide

Sizing calculations for MSDP clients

For a given client, the amount of storage consumed is:

FETB*(1-DI) + FETB*(RF-1)*(1-DS) + (FETB*CD)*(1-DD)*(RD)

Where:

  • FETB is the front-end terabytes.

  • DI is the initial full deduplication rate.

  • DS is the subsequent full deduplication rate.

  • DD is the daily deduplication rate.

  • CD is the daily change rate.

  • RF is the total number of full backups to be retained.

  • RD is the total number of incremental/differential backups to be retained.

Note:

More information about sizing for MSDP is available:

See MSDP sizing considerations.
