About barcode rules
A barcode rule specifies criteria for assigning attributes to new robotic volumes. NetBackup assigns these attributes by using the barcode for the volume that the robotic library provides and your barcode rules.
In NetBackup, you choose whether to use barcode rules when you set up the robot inventory update operation. The barcode rules are stored on the master server.
Note:
NetBackup does not use barcode rules if a volume already uses a barcode.
