About configuring Services for Network File System (NFS)

To restore individual items from the Active Directory, you must configure Services for NFS on the NetBackup media server and all Active Directory domain controllers or ADAM/LDS hosts.

Step 1

Configure NFS on the media server.

On the media server do the following:

  • Stop and disable the ONC/RPC Portmapper service, if it exists.

  • Enable NFS.

    See Enabling Services for Network File System (NFS) on a media server.

  • Stop the Server for NFS service.

    See Disabling the Server for NFS.

  • Stop the Client for NFS service.

    See Disabling the Client for NFS on the media server.

    Note: If the Active Directory domain controller or ADAM/LDS host resides on the media server, do not disable the Client for NFS.

  • Configure the portmap service to start automatically at server restart.

    Issue the following from the command prompt:

    sc config portmap start= auto

    This command should return the status [SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS.

Step 2

Configure NFS on all Active Directory domain controllers or ADAM/LDS hosts.

On all Active Directory domain controllers or ADAM/LDS hosts, do the following:

  • Enable NFS on the clients.

    See Enabling Services for Network File System (NFS) on a client.

  • Stop the Server for NFS service.

    See Disabling the Server for NFS.
