USE_AUTHENTICATION option for NetBackup servers

The USE_AUTHENTICATION option can be used to audit user information without enabling NetBackup Access Control (NBAC).

How to use

Use the nbgetconfig and the nbsetconfig commands to view, add, or change the option.

For information about these commands, see the NetBackup Commands Reference Guide.

Use the following format:

USE_AUTHENTICATION = ON | OFF

The option uses the following parameters:

  • ON

    (Default.) The user is authenticated and is audited. Authentication is achieved without enabling NBAC.

  • OFF

    The user is not authenticated and is not allowed to perform any operation. Only a root user is allowed to make changes and is audited accordingly.

This entry should appear only once in the configuration file.

Equivalent Administration Console property

No equivalent exists in the NetBackup Administration Console host properties.
