NetBackup™ Backup Planning and Performance Tuning Guide

About the primary server NetBackup catalog

The primary server NetBackup catalog resides on the disk of the NetBackup primary server.

The catalog consists of the following parts:

Image database

The image database contains information about what has been backed up. It is by far the largest part of the catalog.

NetBackup data in relational databases

This data includes the media and volume data describing media usage and volume information that is used during the backups.

NetBackup configuration files

Policy, schedule, and other flat files that are used by NetBackup.

For more information on the catalog, refer to "Protecting the NetBackup catalog" in the NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume 1.
