About archives

An archive copies the selected items to the destination drive and then deletes the items from the source drive, after they are backed up successfully.

When you start an archive operation, the client software on your computer sends the data to be backed up to the NetBackup server. The server then writes the data to a storage device and the original files are deleted from the source drive.
