Veritas NetBackup™ Administrator's Guide, Volume II

child_start_deployment_notify

The child_start_deployment_notify script (on UNIX) and the child_start_deployment_notify.cmd script (on Windows) runs on the NetBackup master server. NetBackup calls the script each time a new deployment child job starts and initialization is completed. The script runs before all deployment steps are initiated.

To use this script, copy the following file from the master server:

On UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/child_start_deployment_notify

On Windows: install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\child_start_deployment_notify.cmd

Then place the script in the following location on the master server:

On UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/

On Windows: install_path\NetBackup\bin\

To run properly, the script must be executable. To make the script executable on a UNIX master server, run chmod ugo+rx child_start_deployment_notify

NetBackup passes the following parameters to the script based on the platform:

Specifies the job ID of the child job.

GroupJobID

Specifies the child job's parent job's job ID.

PolicyName

Specifies the policy name of the deployment policy.

ClientName

Specifies the host name of the client as it is found in the deployment policy.

Operation

Specifies the operations to perform: precheck, stage, and install.

Package

Specifies the deployment policy's package.
