How to configure a NetBackup CloudCatalyst Appliance
Use the following procedure to configure a NetBackup CloudCatalyst Appliance as a CloudCatalyst storage server.
This procedure assumes that the preferred use case is being configured. The preferred use case is described in the following topic:

Step 3 | Configure KMS (optional) | Master server | NetBackup CloudCatalyst supports NetBackup Key Management Service (KMS) encryption. To encrypt backups, configure and start the Key Management Service (KMS). Run the following command on the master server to configure KMS: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbkms -createemptydb As part of the setup, enter:

Step 4 | Add the appliance name to the master server | Master server | Generate a set of credentials for the appliance. You must know the proposed host name of the appliance. The same name is used in the NetBackup Appliance Shell Menu during the initial configuration wizard. /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpnbat -addmachine appliance_name admin_password See the NetBackup 52xx Appliance Initial Configuration Guide for appliance setup information. |
Step 5 | Configure the appliance | Appliance | Perform the initial configuration on the appliance. When the script calls for a host name, use the host name for which credentials were generated. |
Step 6 | Configure an appliance as a CloudCatalyst storage server (target) | Appliance | A CloudCatalyst Appliance is the target for the optimized duplication. It is a dedicated appliance for cloud storage. A NetBackup environment may contain one or more CloudCatalyst appliances that serve as MSDP cloud storage servers. There should be one appliance for each different cloud service provider that is used in the environment. From the main shell menu, launch the Appliance Cloud Storage Server Configuration Wizard. In this wizard, select whether KMS is used to encrypt backups. As part of this wizard, a disk pool and a storage unit are configured. Step 7 | Configure the target to allow load balancing for push optimized duplications (optional) | Appliance | To configure load balancing for push optimized duplications, the CloudCatalyst Appliance must allow access from the source media server. Note: The push configuration is recommended if using load balancing for CloudCatalyst. See the following topic for configuration considerations.
