Collecting nbsu output
Technical Support often wants you to send initial evidence of a problem in the form of the NetBackup Support Utility (nbsu). Use the Collect nbsu Output Wizard to collect the nbsu diagnostic information.
To collect nbsu output
- In the NetBackup Administration Console, in the left pane, select the Logging Assistant node.
- The right pane of the NetBackup Administration Console displays the list of Logging Assistant records. Select the record whose nbsu output you want to collect.
- In the Actions menu, select Collect nbsu Diagnostic Information. The Welcome panel for the Collect nbsu Output Wizard appears.
Click Next to continue.
- The Host Selection panel appears:
- Do one or more of the following:
Click Collect nbsu on master server to collect nbsu information on the master server. The Master server text window displays the master server name.
Click Collect nbsu on media server to collect nbsu information from one or more media servers. If the master server is also a media server, you may want to select it again as a media server. Use the right arrow option (>>) to move a highlighted media server from the Available Media Servers window across to the Selected Media Servers window.
Click Collect nbsu on NetBackup client(s) to collect nbsu information from one or more clients. In the text window under this parameter, enter the names of clients for which you want to collect nbsu information. Separate the client names by commas. Do not use any spaces between the client names.
Click Next to continue.
- View the results of the nbsu collect process in the Results panel. The Operation Details window of the panel shows the file on the master server where the progress of the operation is recorded.
Click Finish to complete the Collect nbsu Output Wizard.
If you have a case ID provided by Technical Support in the form ########, rename the log files with the case ID number. Then manually upload the files to the Veritas Evidence Server. See the following article for more information:
