Adding a new SQL Server legacy policy
This topic describes how to create a SQL Server legacy policy that uses clients and batch files to perform backups.
Note:
To perform multistreamed backups and restores, or if you have multiple network interfaces, you need to perform other configuration.
To add a new SQL Server legacy policy
- Log on to the master server as administrator (Windows) or root (UNIX).
- Open the NetBackup Administration Console.
- If your site has more than one master server, choose the one on which you want to add the policy.
- In the left pane, expand NetBackup Management and select Policies.
- Select Actions > New > Policy.
- In the Add a New Policy dialog box, in the Policy name box, type a unique name for the new policy.
- Click OK.
- In the Add New Policy dialog box, in the Policy type list, select MS-SQL-Server.
The database agent policy type does not appear in the drop-down list unless your master server has a license for the database agent.
- Complete the entries on the Attributes tab.
- On the Instances and Databases tab, select Clients for use with batch files.
The tab name changes to Clients and the Backup Selections tab now lets you specify and browse for scripts.
Add other policy information as follows:
Add schedules.
Add clients.
Add batch files to the backup selections list.
- When you have added all the schedules, clients, and backup selections you need, click OK.
