MSDP catalog recovery prerequisites
Before you begin an MSDP catalog recovery, the following prerequisites must be satisfied:
The storage server host must be functional.
The MSDP storage server must be functional.
The catalog directories must exist. The directories can be empty, but the file systems on which they reside must be healthy, their mount points must exist, and they must be mounted. The following are the default locations for the catalog directories: If the paths differ on your system, ensure that the mount points exist.
/database_path/databases/storage_path/var/storage_path/catalogshadowIf the setup was upgraded from an older version:
/database_path/databases/catalogshadow
The values of the following three parameters in the spa.cfg file section:variable pairs) must be the same in the recovery environment as in the backup from which you recover:
StorageDatabase:CatalogShadowPathStorageDatabase:PathPaths:Var
The NetBackup primary server must be functional.
The NetBackup catalog must be available and uncorrupted.
The storage unit that contains the MSDP catalog backup must be available.
Other users of the host must not stop or start the NetBackup deduplication services for the duration of the recovery.
Some of the recovery is resource intensive; Cohesity recommends that you quiesce everything else on the host during the recovery.
If the NetBackup deduplication services are stopped or started manually during this procedure, data loss can occur.
