- Log into NetBackup Web UI.
- On the left, click Recovery.
- In the Regular recovery pane, click Start recovery.
- Select MS-Exchange from the Policy type drop down.
Note:

- Destination client is auto displayed.
- Click Next.
- In the Recovery details tab, NetBackup supports granular recovery where the users can restore individual items. These backup items are displayed in tree structure. You can filter the selection based on Date range, File or directory name, and most recent or all backups.
Click Refresh if the backup items to recover are not displayed or contact Cohesity customer support.
Select the appropriate recovery backup items and then click Next.
- In the Recovery options tab, select the appropriate options from Restore target and MS Exchange options:
Note:
Based on the granular selection of recovery items, the following options are displayed.
Restore target
Restore everything to original location. By default, this option is selected so that items are restored to the same location from where they were backed up
Restore everything to a different location. Select this option to restore all items to a different location from where they were backed up. Select this option and specify destination location.
Note:
Before selecting this option, ensure that the target database must be Recovery Database (RDB) on the MS-Exchange server.
MS Exchange options
Roll forward recovery (Replay all log file). Retains the existing transaction logs. NetBackup restores transaction logs that are part of the recovery operation, followed by any transaction logs that currently exists.
Point-in-time recovery (Replay only restored log files). Restores the database(s) and replaces only the transaction logs that existed at the time of backup. A restore may require a full backup and one or more incremental backups. You can select all of the images and perform the restore in one job. Or you can restore each backup image separately.
In the latter case, only enable Point-in-Time Recovery for the first job. Otherwise, each point-in-time restore deletes the transaction logs from the preceding restore jobs
Dismount database prior to restore. Dismounts the database(s) before the restore begins. By default, the options is not selected.
Note:
Use this option with caution. Ensure that you have selected the correct database to restore before you choose to dismount it.
Commit and mount database after last backup set is restored. This option enables the restore operation to play through log files and roll back any uncompleted transactions. If this option is not selected, the database needs to be mounted manually after the restore.
Do not restore the messages. NetBackup skips the restore of any messages that still exists, regardless of the current location.
Overwrite the existing messages. Selecting this option, NetBackup overwrites the contents and properties of the original objects. Messages are overwritten regardless of their location.
Job priority. By default, the preset priority for restore jobs is 90000, which is the highest preset job priority of any other NetBackup job. The available range is 0 to 99999. The higher the number, the greater the job priority.
- Click Next.
- Review the recovery specifications in the Review tab and then click Start recovery.
- A new job is initiated in the Activity monitor.
Once the recovery process is initiated, two jobs are triggered. The first job is an internal job triggered which gathers the relevant metadata about restoration. The second job is the actual recovery job which gets triggered once the first job is successful.
