Modifying the hierarchy of operations in a storage lifecycle policy

In some cases, the hierarchy of operations in an SLP can be modified. Use the arrows to move it in the hierarchy.

Note:

It is not recommended that users modify automanaged storage lifecycle policies. If a user begins to modify an automanaged SLP, a dialog appears that warns users about the possible consequences.

See About automanaged policies or storage lifecycle policies.

The order of the operations at the time that the SLP is saved may differ from the next time the SLP is opened. NetBackup reorders the operations while it stores them in the catalog configuration file. How the hierarchy works is not changed, however, and the parent-child relationships are preserved.

Modify the order of the operations in the list if needed. Changing the order does not change the source of the selected operation. Changing the order does move the children of an operation and preserves their relationship with the selected operation.

  • Select Edit > Up or Edit > Down to move an operation up or down in the hierarchy.

  • Select Edit > Promote or Edit > Demote to make the selected operation a sibling of the parent operation or child of a sibling operation. You cannot promote or demote Backup or Snapshot operations.
