NetBackup™ Web UI Administrator's Guide

Restoring files and directories of tape media

You can recover specific files using the NetBackup web UI. This topic describes how to restore backed up items

To restore tape media files

  1. On the left, click Recovery. Recovery page is displayed.
  2. Click Start recovery of Regular recovery wizard.
  3. Select Standard from the Policy type.
  4. Click Select client, Select source client dialog box is displayed. Search and select the appropriate client and then click Apply.
  5. Once the policy type and client is selected, click Next.
  6. Recovery details tab is displayed with the list of directories on the left pane and its backed up files on the right pane.

    If the directory was selected on the left pane, the images for the full-time range are selected.

    If the goal is to restore all the data from a directory, select the directory from the left-hand pane. Selection of the directory adds all images from the selected time range, resulting in more data restored. This process applies to all backup types.

  7. To preview a list of the removable media (such as tape) that NetBackup needs to perform the restore, click Preview media.

    Note:

    If the items that you want to restore are in backup images that reside on disk storage units, no media is listed in the preview.

  8. Click Next. Recovery options tab is displayed. select from the following options to meet the requirements for the restore:

    Restore target options

    • Restore everything to original location (default)

    • Restore everything to a different location (maintaining existing structure)

    • Restore individual directories and files to different locations

    • Create and restore to new virtual hard disk file

    Recovery options

    • Allow recovery of files infected by malware

    • Allow overwrite of existing files

    • Restore directories without crossing mount points

    • Restore directories without access-control attributes (Windows clients only)

    • Rename hard links

    • Rename soft links

    Job priority

    • You can change the priority of this restore. The default is 90000. The available range is 0 to 99999. Higher numbers are higher priority.

  9. Click Next to review the select options.
  10. On the Review tab, the summary information of the selected options is displayed.
  11. Click Start recovery to initiate the recovery process.
