NetBackup™ Web UI Administrator's Guide

Perform manual backups

A manual backup is user-initiated and is based on a policy. For example, you can use a manual backup to prepare for the upcoming events that are outside scheduled backups, such as system maintenance. To perform a manual backup, you must enable the Go into effect at attribute for the policy. If this attribute is set for a future date and time, the backup does not run.

In some cases, it may be useful to create a policy and schedule that is used only for manual backups. You can create a policy for manual backups by creating a policy with a single schedule that has no backup window. Without a backup window, the policy can never run automatically.

You have several options to perform a manual backup. To begin, on the left select Protection > Policies.
