NetBackup™ Web UI Cloud Administrator's Guide

For incremental backups using Amazon DynamoDB

  • Use NetBackup policy to protect the Amazon DynamoDB table assets with incremental backups.

  • You must enable point-in-time recovery in the Amazon Portal before configuring incremental backups. Enabling point-in-time recovery incurs an additional cost of approximately $0.20 per GB-month. For example, if your table is 100GB, the monthly cost is approximately 100GB × $0.20 /GB-month = $20.

  • NetBackup enforces minimum and maximum incremental schedule intervals based on Amazon DynamoDB export limitations:

    • Minimum interval: 15 minutes. Incremental backups fail if the backup time window is less than 15 minutes.

    • Maximum interval: 24 hours per export operation. NetBackup performs multiple exports if the incremental backup time window is more than 24 hours.

  • NetBackup performs a full back up during an incremental schedule, if the point-in-time recovery is disabled once and re-enabled for the table.
