About automatic file changes from an upgrade

When you upgrade from an earlier NetBackup version, certain customizable scripts are overwritten. Before NetBackup overwrites these scripts, it saves copies of them so that any modifications are preserved.

For UNIX and Linux

Table: Protected paths and files for UNIX and Linux

Protected path or file

Action

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbpdbm

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/initbprd

The current NetBackup version number is appended to the file name.

Example:

initbpdbm.version

/usr/openv/netbackup/nblog.conf

A suffix is added to the file during upgrade. Review the contents of the /usr/openv/netbackup directory after the upgrade completes for details.

/usr/openv/msg/C

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/help

/usr/openv/volmgr/help

The entire directory is moved to the directory name plus the current version number.

Example:

/usr/openv/netbackup/
bin/goodies.version
For Windows

Table: Protected paths and files for Windows

Protected path or file

Action

install_path\NetBackup\nblog.conf

The file is copied to the

install_path\NetBackup\
bin.original_version

directory.

The original_version value is the version of NetBackup before you begin the upgrade.

Example:

install_path\NetBackup\bin.version

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\netbackup.adm

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\help_script.cmd

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\available_media.cmd

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\check_coverage.cmd

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\cleanstats.cmd

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\duplicate_images.cmd

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\verify_images.cmd

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\bpstart_notify

install_path\NetBackup\bin\goodies\bpend_notify

The files are copied to the

install_path\NetBackup\bin\
goodies.release

directory.

The release value is the current version of NetBackup.

Example:

install_path\NetBackup\bin\
goodies.version\netbackup.adm
