Configuring an OpenStorage storage server for backups
Configure in this context means to add the storage host to NetBackup as a storage server. When you configure a storage server, you also configure the media servers that function as data movers.
If the storage host does not require logon credentials, you must enter dummy credentials so that NetBackup configures the media servers as data movers.
To configure an OpenStorage storage server
- On the left, select Storage > Disk storage.
- Select the Storage servers tab, and then select Add.
- In the Storage type list, select Disk storage servers.
- From the Category options, select OpenStorage Technology (OST).
- Select Start.
- On the Basic properties page, provide the following information:
Select the media server that queries the storage server. The storage plug-in must be installed on that media server.
Enter the storage server name.
Select the appropriate storage server type.
Enter the user name and password for the storage server. If the storage host does not require logon credentials, enter dummy credentials. NetBackup then configures the media server as a data mover.
- Select Next.
- (Optional) In Media servers, select Add to add more media servers for the OpenStorage environment. The media servers function as backup hosts and data movers. NetBackup uses them to balance the load of backup and replication jobs.
- Select Next.
- On the Review page, verify that the configuration is correct, and then select Save. NetBackup validates the credentials. If the credentials are invalid, select Change and correct them.
