NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 9141

Message: Keystore is in inconsistent state.

Explanation: NetBackup returns this error code during the rotation of passphrase operation. NetBackup gets this error in the scenarios shown:

  • Private key, passphrase, and passphrase key files are missing or inaccessible.

  • Backups of the Private key, passphrase, and passphrase key are present, which suggests a failure in the last operation involving these files.

  • NetBackup is unable to decrypt the private key file with available passphrase file.

Recommended Action: Perform the following as appropriate:

  • Verify that the private key, passphrase, and passphrase key files exist at the keystore location and have the correct service user permissions. If the files are present but lack the proper permissions, adjust the permissions manually and retry the operation.

  • If backup files are present clean-up the backup files with the _bkup suffix and retry the operation.

  • For any other case:

    • If the issue persists, remove all files from the keystore directory, including any hidden files. Depending on your configuration, the keystore directory is install_dir/var/vxss/credentials/keystore, install_dir/var/global/vxss/credentials/keystore, install_path\NetBackup\var\vxss\credentials\keystore, or install_path\NetBackup\var\global\vxss\credentials\keystore directory.

      • Perform nbcertcmd -getCertificate with reissueToken option for all servers with which the host is registered and retry the operation.

      • If the issue persists, collect the nbcert, nbpxyhelper, and nbwebservice logs and contact Cohesity Technical Support.
