Ensuring successful backups
Schedule backups when the risk of an incomplete backup is minimized. If a client cannot be forced into an inactive state during a backup, do the following:
Table: Steps to ensuring successful backups
Step | Action | Reference |
|---|---|---|
Step 1 | For UNIX clients, configure NetBackup to retry file backups if a file changes during the backup attempt. More information is available on busy file properties. | |
Step 2 | For Windows clients, configure NetBackup to use a option. More information is available on properties. | See the NetBackup Administrator's Guide Volume I . |
Step 3 | Examine the NetBackup log files regularly to ensure that any backup errors are corrected promptly. During backup, network or server errors can occur that affect the backup. |
