Examples of valid WORM MVG volumes
A WORM MVG is made up of multiple individual WORM volumes. All individual volumes in the group must share the same WORM lockdown mode. They must all be in the "Compliance" mode or "Enterprise/Governance" mode.
Additionally, all the individual volumes must have overlapping minimum and maximum lock durations. Within a WORM MVG volume, the shortest maximum lock duration for any WORM volume must be greater than the longest minimum lock duration for any WORM volume.
The following table lists the valid and invalid WORM MVG volumes.
Table: WORM MVG volumes
Volume | WORM mode | Minimum Lock duration | Maximum Lock duration |
|---|---|---|---|
WORM_VOL_1 | Compliance | 10 days | 25 days |
WORM_VOL_2 | Compliance | 5 days | 30 days |
WORM_VOL_3 | Compliance | 15 days | 40 days |
WORM_VOL_4 | Enterprise | 10 days | 30 days |
WORM_VOL_5 | Compliance | 30 days | 60 days |
In this table, WORM volumes 1, 2, and 3 can be members of the same MVG volume because they all share the same WORM mode (Compliance). The longest minimum lock duration is 15 days while the shortest maximum lock duration is 25 days. This creates an overlapping lock duration of 15-25 days, making this valid combination.
WORM volumes 1, 2 and 4 cannot be members of the same MVG volume because all of them do not have the same WORM mode. WORM_VOL_4 is in the Enterprise mode while the others are in the Compliance mode.
WORM volumes 1, 2 and 5 cannot be members of the same MVG volume because they do not have overlapping lock duration. The longest minimum lock duration is 30 days while the shortest maximum lock duration is 25 days. Since 30 days minimum lock duration is greater than 25 days maximum lock duration, there is no overlap, making this combination invalid.
