Migrate a backup policy from a regular MSDP disk volume to the MVG volume
Before the migration, we recommend assigning the MSDP disk volume that policy uses to the MVG volume that the policy will use. This step is especially important for an accelerator backup policy. The MVG server continues using the previous disk volume and the previous Accelerator track log for the new backup jobs. The deduplication ratio and backup performance are affected minimally.
If the backup policy used the multiple MSDP disk volumes and the backup images still exist on those MSDP servers, assign at least the disk volume that is most recently used to the MVG volume. You can also assign all the MSDP disk volumes to the MVG volume.
Run the following MSDP command to specify the most recently used one as the primary one.
cacontrol --cluster set-cp-assignment <dsid-of-mvg-volume> <client> <policy> <msdp-server>
Migrate the backup policies gradually overtime to reduce any potential impact.
