Notify events to primary server with the vpfsd service
The vpfsd service sends critical events to the NetBackup primary server when it detects an issue, such as file corruption, checkpoint failure, and no NetBackup policy that is configured to protect a universal share.
In case of file corruption events, the universal share sends the event when it detects the following:
Metadata of the file is corrupted or inconsistent.
Data container is corrupted or lost.
For example:
File path: <Corrupted file path> Share name: <Universal share name> Storage server: <The storage server for universal share> Share type: VPFS
Checkpoint failures can affect data consistency and an event is triggered if the checkpoint repeatedly fails.
It is recommended that you configure the NetBackup universal-share policy to protect the universal share. An event is sent to the NetBackup primary server if the universal share is not protected or there if there is no successful backup in a specified period of time (last 24 hours by default).
