Using instant access for MS-Windows, Standard, and Universal-Share policies
Instant access for unstructured data assets allows users to create instant access mounts from the backup images that are created with MS-Windows, Standard, or Universal-Share policies.
To manage instant access with a MS-Windows, Standard, or Universal-Share policy, a user must have the RBAC Administrator role. Or, a role with similar permissions.
The backup images that are created using the MS-Windows policy and mounted over instant access, display the file ownership and access control list (ACL).
When you create an instant access livemount for an NTFS filesystem from a MS-Windows backup, use the 'shareReader' parameter in the json file (instant access live mount creation API) to view the original file security information (file ACL and file ownership).
Format: shareReader="Domain\\reader"
The username specified for shareReader must be a valid AD (active directory) user. For an instant access livemount created with the 'shareReader' parameter, all the AD users with permissions to access a share file in the ACL and AD user 'shareReader' can access it. If you do not want the livemount to display the original backup file security information, avoid using the 'shareReader' parameter.
You can instantly access backup copies from a local or a cloud LSU (logical storage unit) using NetBackup Instant Access APIs.
You can instantly access backup copies of universal shares from the NetBackup web UI or using the NetBackup Instant Access APIs.
MS-Windows and Standard policies only support instant access using REST APIs.
Note:
Instant access requires the following services: NGINX, NFS. SAMBA, WINBIND (if Active Directory is required), SPWS, VPFS.
