Who can run NetBackup commands

Users with the following roles can run the NetBackup commands:

  • OS Administrator (root in Linux and Administrator Group members in Windows)

  • RBAC Administrator

  • RBAC CLI-Administrators

For example, OS Administrator, RBAC Administrator, and RBAC CLI-Administrator can run the following commands:

  • nbcmdrun bppllist [arguments]

  • nbcmdrun bpstuadd [arguments]

  • nbcmdrun nbdb_move [arguments]

  • nbcmdrun mklogdir [arguments]

  • nbcmdrun tpconfig [arguments]

Users with specific RBAC permissions can run NetBackup policy-specific commands (such as bppolicynew, bpplsched).

See the following examples:

  • User with the 'Policy > Delete' permission can run the nbcmdrun bppldelete command.

  • User with the 'Policy > Update' permission can run the nbcmdrun bpplinfo -set | -modify command.

To see the entire list of RBAC-supported commands that can be run with nbcmdrun, run the following command:

nbcmdrun -listRbacCommands
