Cross-Hypervisor restore from VMware to Nutanix
NetBackup supports this feature from version 11.1 and above.
Ensure the following conditions are satisfied before performing the hypervisor operation from VMware to Nutanix.
vCenter VMware server: Validate or add a VMware server of type vCenter.
For more information, See Add VMware servers.
Backup policy: A backup should be created using the VMware backup policy with the following specifications.
Optimization options in VMware tab: Cohesity recommends one the following options selected.
Enable file recovery from VM backup
Exclude deleted blocks
Exclude swap and paging files
Nutanix AHV cluster: Verify or add a Nutanix cluster. To add a Nutanix AHV cluster, refer NetBackup for Nutanix AHV Administrator's Guide > Managing AHV clusters > Add or browse an AHV cluster section.
Avoid using the
Btrfsfile system for the boot or root partition. If used, due to the limitations, the boot disk will not get identified.See Assign both the Default VMware Administrator and Default AHV Administrator roles to a user.
See Create a custom role for all Nutanix AHV permissions and additional VMware asset permissions.
See Create a custom role for all VMware permissions and additional Nutanix AHV asset permissions.
Note:
Cohesity recommends using one of the above RBAC method for efficient cross-hypervisor restore.
