Performing a user-directed backup of SharePoint Server and SharePoint Foundation

This topic describes how to perform a user-directed backup of SharePoint Server and SharePoint Foundation.

To back up SharePoint resources

  1. Log onto the server as Administrator.
  2. Open the Backup, Archive, and Restore interface.
  3. Choose File > Select Files and Folders to Back Up.
  4. In the All Folders pane, expand Microsoft SharePoint Resources.
  5. Select the objects to back up.
  6. Choose Actions > Backup. Then click Start Backup.

    If you want to view the progress of the backup, click Yes. If you do not want to view the progress of the backup, click No.
