Add clients to a policy
The clients list contains a list of the clients that are backed up during an automatic backup. A NetBackup client must be in at least one policy but can be in more than one.
The NetBackup client software must be installed on each of the following: the front-end web server, the SQL Server database host, and the Index Files or the Index database host. The client software does not need to be installed on the Search or the Job servers. If the SQL Server is clustered,
To add clients to a policy
- Open the policy and select the Clients tab.
- Select Add.
Add the client that is the front-end web server and that runs the Central Administration Service to the client list.
Note:
You must perform additional configuration if the SQL Server back-end servers are clustered and you installed NetBackup on more than one node in the cluster.

- Select Detect client operating system to automatically detect the client computer's operating system and hardware.
- Select Add.
