NetBackup™ for Oracle Administrator's Guide

About Oracle credentials

The Credential Management System (CMS) in NetBackup lets you add and manage the credentials for Oracle databases. Multiple databases can be associated with a single credential and an RMAN catalog, which saves time when you configure for the Oracle environment in NetBackup. The RBAC role Default Oracle Administrator has full control over credentials in NetBackup. Or, you can apply custom roles and permissions to Oracle credentials to limit who can manage specific Oracle credentials.

For more information about NetBackup credentials, see the following topic:

Overview of credential management in NetBackup

Oracle credentials can be managed in the following ways:

  • From the NetBackup Credential Management System (CMS).

A stored credential can be used for backup and for cloning operations.

See Add a credential for an Oracle database or RMAN catalog.

  • From the Databases tab in Workloads > Oracle. For each database, you can add the Oracle credentials that are used to manage that database.

  • From the RMAN catalogs tab in Workloads > Oracle. For each catalog, you can add the Oracle credentials that are used to manage that catalog.

See Add a credential for an Oracle database or RMAN catalog.
