NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 9740

Message: The upgrade of this protection plan to NetBackup 8.2 or later produced a failure.

Explanation: NetBackup 8.2 protection plans have the following differences between previous versions:

  • The WorkloadType field is now required for all protection plans.

  • NetBackup policy attributes can now be specified when a protection plan is defined.

  • NetBackup schedule types (for example: Full or Differential incremental) can now be specified when a protection plan is defined.

  • Asset-specific customization can now be specified when you subscribe an asset to a protection plan.

Recommended Action: Creating or deleting a subscription does not work until the protection plan has been converted from an 8.2.1 protection plan. Normally, this conversion happens automatically. Wait for a few minutes, then retry the operation. If the conversion is not successful, the process can be triggered immediately by retrieving the details of the protection plan by modifying the URL. Modify the URL in the NetBackup web UI to:

https://<master_server>:1556/webui/protection-plans/{sloId}

If the failure is due to an intermittent problem when NetBackup policies or storage lifecycle policies (SLPs) are created, a retry may succeed.

Otherwise, the old protection plan maybe unusable. In this case, existing subscribed asset protection is still active and backup jobs still run. Consider creating a new protection plan and migrating the subscriptions to this new protection plan. The definition of the old ProtectionPlan is persisted in the NetBackup database. Contact Cohesity Technical Support for assistance in retrieving the old protection plan definition.
