NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 8705

Message: The specified host is not a NetBackup client host and therefore it cannot be decommissioned.

Explanation: Attempts to decommission the NetBackup host through the web UI, command line, or API, fail with a NetBackup status code 8705. This error occurs when the specified host is not solely a client host. It has additional roles and responsibilities, such as media server, appliance, remote primary, remote media, or WORM storage roles, etc. You must first remove these additional roles and responsibilities from the host. Once these roles are removed, the host reverts to a client-only role. The host can then be decommissioned and removed from the NetBackup domain.

Recommended Action: Use the information in the technical note that is shown to determine the cause of the error and the appropriate actions to resolve it:
