NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 5942

Message: Certificate could not be read from the local certificate store.

Explanation: The certificate was not added to the local certificate store or it may be lost or corrupted. You may also have no administrator privileges on the given NetBackup host. Also, this error can occur if the NetBackup CA-signed certificate is used for communication. In case of an external-CA signed certificate: The external certificate may be lost or corrupted.

Recommended Action: Check if you have administrator privileges on the specified NetBackup host. If you have the required privileges, use the -force option with the nbcertcmd -getCertificate command to regenerate the existing certificate. You may have to supply a token with this command, depending on the certificate deployment security levels specified on the master server.

If external CA signed certificate is used for communication, it may be lost or corrupted. Try the following:

  • The external certificate that is specified in bp.conf/registry against ECA_CERT_PATH key may be lost or corrupted. Make sure that the provided certificate path is in the correct format. Review the value that is set for the ECA_CERT_PATH configuration option, check if it has the required access permissions, and it is accessible.
