NetBackup malware scan host capabilities

The NetBackup malware scan host that is configured on stand-alone Windows vs Linux operating system will differ slightly in its capabilities and behavior. Windows and Linux hosts can be used as a stand-alone scan host for on-demand malware scan. The prerequisites for a scan host, for Windows and Linux operating system hosts are mentioned in the following section:

Note:

For faster scans, better resource utilizations (including support for multiple parallel scans), and consistent scan performance, it is recommended to use a Linux scan host configured with the NFS share type, together with either the NetBackup Malware Scanner (Avira) or the NetBackup NextGen Malware Scanner.

Windows and Linux scan host will not be able to scan the following file types (these will be skipped):

  • Password protected files

  • Encrypted files

  • Compressed and password protected file archives (zip, tar, gzip)

  • Corrupted files

Windows and Linux scan host will skip a file if the scanner is unable to determine the file type.
